In response to her endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris
“Fine Taylor … you win … I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life,” he posted late on September 10th. Musk apparently decided to be a weird creep following Swift’s endorsement of the Harris-Walz ticket. Swift signed her announcement as as “Childless Cat Lady,” a reference to disparaging comments made by Republican Vice Presidential candidate J.D. Vance, which are part of his broader worldview that holds people with children in higher esteem than people without.
Musk is himself part of Silicon Valley’s weird pronatalist movement, though he very publicly doesn’t get along with his own children, and is feuding with his trans daughter Vivian. He’s also struggled to cordially co-parent, winding up in an apparently nasty custody battle with the musician Grimes over their three children. Musk has at least 12 children with multiple women. He is also involved in a criminal complaint filed by Algerian boxer Imane Khelif over “acts of aggravated cyber harassment” related to baseless claims that the gold-medal winner is a trans man.
As for Swift, she has long been subjected to the public fantasizing of old conservative men. In a 2024 interview with Variety, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump called her “unusually beautiful” and questioned if she was actually liberal. Following Swift’s endorsement of his rivals, Trump predicted that she would “pay a price in the marketplace.”
